Utauloid Song Review #1 (More Like Vocaloid vs. Utauloid)

End of Rain (Yamine Renri)

I can't really say much about this song since I haven't really read much about it's translation but I can say that the original was sung by Hatsune Miku which makes this a vocaloid song. However, I'll be using Yamine Renri's version because this was the first video that I've hear her voice. It wasn't a coincidence that I've found this, no. I found out about Yamine Renri on a top 5 vocaloid and Utauloid list on Youtube. I was curious so I had to check it up. Despite being 5th on the list that I've watched, she has the most humanly voice compared to other Utauloids.

I've also asked my parents about this and they were stunned that it was computer regenerated. "It didn't even sound like a robot!" they said. I saw that there was a lot of potential on those who made and edited these Utauloids. The reason why they aren't popular is because they're out shined by vocaloids. Vocaloid has started the "Electronic music" trend. Utauloids followed soon after, they're advantage is that their program is free. You'd have to pay for Vocaloid voice banks and it's program.

So why are Utauloids over looked if they're almost the same with Vocaloids? The first Utaus were pretty robotic. So much that it's hard to understand what they're saying. Vocaloids on the other hand may sound robotic, but at least people could understand what they're saying. Vocaloids and Utauloids have evolved until now. Vocaloid 4 being the recent version, for Utauloids... Well you can find videos with good quality like the one above. Another improvement is that both Vocaloid and Utauloid has voice banks in different languages. It first expanded to Korean (SeeU being the first) then soon after english voice banks have been made (Oliver is the first vocaloid to be recorded by a young boy).

To conclude there isn't much of a difference, just pricing. It requires both skill and time to make a song with Utauloid and Vocaloid , depending on whose voice bank you're using. I do personally have my own Utauloid and my own voice bank with my voice, but I still have to improve it's quality and such. In any cases, whether you're an avid fan of vocaloid or electronic music, you wont be bothered by Utauloids much depending on who you're listening to.
